Stories Saba

The stories are written by Lysanne "GoddessEye" Charles, a Saban born, Saba and St. Martin raised writer, artist, researcher, activist and educator, with family ties to Sint Eustatius, Bonaire, Curaçao, and Aruba. Lysanne collaborated with Daniella Simmons, a St. Martin artist with Saban roots, to visualize the stories.

The aim of the stories is to raise awareness, spark conversations about the impacts of climate change, and give the local community voices in many of the pressing debates. Lysanne has a background in sociology, cultural anthropology, political science, and mass communication, and is pursuing a PhD with the project Island(er)s at the Helm, attached to the following institutions KITLV, University of Amsterdam, and University of St. Martin (USM). Her work focuses on the (im)possibilities of meaningful co-creation between stakeholders from the government and the public.
